The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) is a federally-funded health insurance option for medically-uninsurable Californians.
| In order to qualify, you must meet the following criteria: | |
| Resident of California | |
A pre-existing condition as shown by:

| U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or lawfully present. | |
| No health insurance coverage in the last six months prior to application. | |
| Not enrolled in Medicare Part A & Part B; or COBRA or Cal-COBRA benefits. | |
| Social Security Number required. | |
Benefits
Dependent coverage is not available. However, enrolled individuals can expect the following coverage for eligible services, in-network:
| $1,500 annual deductible | |
| $500 brand-name drug deductible | |
| $2,500 annual co-payment/co-insurance maximum | |
| No annual or lifetime benefit maximums | |
| Zero cost preventive care | |
| $25 office visits | |
| %15 co-insurance on hospital visits, labs, and x-rays | |
