–Applicants to the Track (US Public Health Sciences Track) who are from rural or underserved areas will be given preference over others.
–Faculty and graduate members of the Track are to be available for and deployed to public health emergencies, natural disasters, and bio-terrorism events. Graduates are to serve for two years in the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service for each year of training they received. Service obligations can be reduced by taking positions in underserved areas.
–The existing health care workforce is supported by making grants to centers of excellence, training workers for diversity, initiate health care education programs.
–The Surgeon General is to establish programs in continuing medical education for members of the health professions to promote high standards of health care within the U.S.
