–If a spouse dies, allowing the remaining spouse to qualify as a low-income beneficiary, the determination period shall last for one year.
–If subsidy-eligible beneficiaries are reassigned to plans, they must be provided within 30 days, information on formulary differences with respect to their drug regimens, and a description of their right to request a coverage determination, exception, reconsideration, or grievance.
–Additional funding is provided for low income programs, including Area Agencies on Aging
–All drugs within certain classifications need to be included in the formulary–
anticonvulsants, antidepressants, antineoplastics, antipsychotics, antiretrovirals, and immunosuppressants for the treatment of transplant rejection, beginning in 2011.
–High income beneficiaries will start paying more for Part D premiums beginning in 2011.
–Long-term care facilities will be required to dispense drugs in less than 30-day increments, such as weekly or daily increments.
